Some may have noticed that this month's cupcake of the month has gone up extremely late. That's because this is a very special cupcake! In honor of my best friend's birthday, I created what I think is a completely new cupcake: The Ramos Gin Fizz cupcake. Inspired by her favorite drink, which you can read more about here (link to http://www.gumbopages.com/food/beverages/ramos-gin-fizz.html), this cupcake is light, airy, and tastes of citrus, orange blossom water, and of course, gin. Topped with a fluffy cooked orange blossom and gin frosting, this cupcake is sure to delight your taste buds, and maybe make you challenge the bartender the next time you go out! The Ramos Gin Fizz cupcake will be available during the months of April and May, and expect to see a brand new cupcake of the month in about a week!

I got a lot of weird looks the first time I told people I was making these cupcakes. No one believed that sea salt and caramel would go so well together! But the buttery caramel cake and caramel buttercream frosting are set off nicely by the crunchy salt on top, which keeps the entire cake from being too sweet. And, of course, for presentation's sake, a little chocolate-streaked caramel to finish it off.
